<b>Location.</b> With a dramatic oceanfront setting that overlooks picturesque Kailua Bay, the Royal Kona Resort stands within walking distance of the quaint fishing village of Kailua- Kona with its many fine restaurants, shops, historical sites, and activities. Captain Cook Monument is a 30-minute drive from the resort and Parker Ranch, a working Hawaiian ranch that offers outdoor adventures, is located less than two miles from the property. <br><b>Hotel Features.</b> The Royal Kona Resort features a natural salt-water swimming lagoon and sandy sunning area, in addition to a split-level freshwater pool and children's pool. Dial-up Internet access is available. <br><br><b>Expert Tip.</b> In 1812, King Kamehameha established his summer residence in this area after unifying the Hawaiian Islands and returning to his homeland. From Keahoe-Kona International Airport: <br> Exit the airport and turn right on Highway 19 (Queen Kaahumanu Highway).<br> Follow the highway south for eight miles. <br> Turn right on Palani Drive into Kailua-Kona.<br> At the bottom of the hill, follow Alii Drive one-half mile. <br> Turn right into the Royal Kona Resort. <br> The distance is 8 miles. |
